{"id":1492,"date":"2024-07-24T09:52:15","date_gmt":"2024-07-24T07:52:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fondationcuendet.ch\/expositions\/"},"modified":"2025-06-09T13:33:01","modified_gmt":"2025-06-09T11:33:01","slug":"exhibitions","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/fondationcuendet.ch\/en\/exhibitions\/","title":{"rendered":"Exhibitions"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of its collaboration with the <a href=\"https:\/\/museejenisch.ch\/en\/musee\/cabinet-cantonal-des-estampes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cabinet cantonal des estampes<\/a>, the <strong>Fondation<\/strong> <strong>William Cuendet &amp; Atelier Saint-Prex <\/strong>regularly lends works from its collections to outside institutions for exhibitions and other projects. The Foundation also designs and organizes many of its own exhibitions. In keeping with its two-pronged mission and with the varied personalities represented on board (including artists, collectors, writers and art historians), these projects relate directly both to the works in its collections and to the concerns of the artists working at the Atelier de Saint-Prex.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1977, the year of its founding, the <strong>Fondation William Cuendet &amp; Atelier Saint-Prex<\/strong> presented an exhibition of its collection as well as a focused show of works by D\u00fcrer and Rembrandt at the Mus\u00e9e de Pully. In 1981, in collaboration with the Parisian collection of Andr\u00e9 Jammes, the Foundation presented <em>The Origin of Engraved Photography<\/em> at the Mus\u00e9e de l&#8217;Elys\u00e9e, an exhibition investigating the aquatint technique and the vanished secrets of heliogravure\u2014two abiding interests of the Atelier&#8217;s artists. Those themes would be taken up again a few years later in an exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The study of heliogravure, a printing process closely linked to the development of photography, would be further advanced by an exhibition entitled <em>Graver la lumi\u00e8re<\/em><em> (Engraving Light<\/em>), presented during the winter of 2002-2003 at the Mus\u00e9e Jenisch in Vevey.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the years, <strong>the Fondation<\/strong> has presented and contributed to retrospectives devoted to many of the printmakers close to the Atelier, including Albert-Edgar Yersin, Henry Bischoff, G\u00e9rard de Pal\u00e9zieux, Ilse Lierhammer, Pietro Sarto, Edmond Quinche, Urs and Jon Goodman. In 1996 it organized a major scholarly exhibition that investigated three-colour printmaking: <em>Anatomy of Colour: L&#8217;invention de l&#8217;estampe en couleurs (Anatomy of Colour: The Invention of the Colour Print<\/em>). Jointly organized by the Fondation, the members of the Atelier de Saint-Prex and the Biblioth\u00e8que nationale de France, the exhibition was awarded the Prix Estampa for the best printmaking exhibition of the year. Accompanied by a major catalogue written by its two curators, Maxime Pr\u00e9aud and Florian Rodari, <em>Anatomy of Colour<\/em> then travelled to the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2007, to celebrate <strong>the Fondation<\/strong>&#8216;s thirtieth anniversary, the board of trustees presented an exhibition of highlights from its collection, bringing together around one hundred emblematic works of any date or theme. Between 2010 and 2012, these works travelled to several venues throughout in Spain under the title <em>Durero a Morandi<\/em>. In 2017, a large exhibition entitled <em>Impressions fortes<\/em>, illustrating the collection\u2019s richness and variety, took place at the Mus\u00e9e de Lod\u00e8ve. Meanwhile the collection had recently been enriched by the significant additions of works by two French portraitists of the seventeenth century, Robert Nanteuil and Claude Mellan. To celebrate these major acquisitions, curators Florian Rodari and Catherine McCready organized two successive exhibitions accompanied by scholarly catalogues: <a href=\"https:\/\/museejenisch.ch\/en\/expositions\/robert-nanteuil-graveur-du-roi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Robert Nanteuil: graveur du roi<\/em><\/a> (2013) and <em>Claude Mellan:<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/museejenisch.ch\/en\/expositions\/claude-mellan-1598-1688-lecriture-de-la-methode\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>L&#8217;\u00e9criture de la m\u00e9thode<\/em><\/a> (2015-2016).<br><br>More recently, in Paris (2019) and at the <a href=\"https:\/\/museejenisch.ch\/en\/expositions\/palezieux-1919-2012\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mus\u00e9e Jenisch in Vevey<\/a> (2020), a major exhibition organized with the <a href=\"https:\/\/fondationcustodia.fr\/Palezieux-1919-2012-Works-on-Paper\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fondation Custodia<\/a> celebrated the work of the painter, printmaker and collector G\u00e9rard de Pal\u00e9zieux. In summer 2023, the <strong>Fondation<\/strong> presented its collection at the Mus\u00e9e Marmottan, Paris. Reprising the title <em>Graver la lumi\u00e8re<\/em> (Engraving Light), this latest exhibition was accompanied by a catalogue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of its collaboration with the Cabinet cantonal des estampes, the Fondation William Cuendet &amp;
